myIRB is on a protected network and can only be directly accessed from computers in the Gainesville Health Science Center (HSC) computer network. Users outside the HSC must use a secure network connection, described below.
VPN Access
If the computer you are using is outside the HSC computer network (e.g. on campus or off campus such as at your home), you must download and install the VPN client (Cisco AnyConnect). Cisco AnyConnect is a separate application which must be run to establish a secure network connection.
The Cisco AnyConnect client application can be obtained from the UF Network Services website. Support is available at the UF Helpdesk (352) 392-HELP.
Go to the Cisco folder Opening the folder and select the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobile Client, right click on it and choose send to the Desktop. Once you have created the shortcut double click it to execute it. A small dialog box should appear asking for the VPN address. Type in vpn.ufl.edu. Then choose connect. When you launch the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for the first time, enter “vpn.health.ufl.edu” in the “connect to” box. Apr 18, 2021 In addition to the Cisco Anyconnect client, the UF Gatorlink VPN service also supports legacy L2TP over IPsec clients which are built into many popular operating systems. The Gatorlink VPN service is provided by Network Services and the UF Helpdesk.
- If you have administrator privileges on your computer:
You can complete this process yourself. You will need your Gatorlink Credentials to access this site. You should be able to install this on your personal computers. Here is the link to download and install the VPN application:
https://net-services.ufl.edu/provided-services/vpn/clients/ - If you do NOT have administrator privileges on your computer:

VA Remote Access
VA Handbook 6500 identifies the compliance requirements for VA remote access users.
VA supports remote access with two different applications 1. Citrix Access Gateway (CAG) and 2. CISCO RESCUE VPN Client. The Citrix Access Gateway is designed for users that do not have VA Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) – CAG is a good option to allow users access to general applications such as email and chat. The CISCO RESCUE VPN Client is only for use on VA Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and is installed on all GFE laptops. Users would still need to request remote access and have their remote access accounts enabled for use with either CAG or RESCUE.
You may request remote access by visiting the Remote Access Self Service Portal ( only available while on VA's internal network).
University Of Florida Pulse Secure
Please note the Self-Service Portal is only accessible from within the VA network, it is not externally accessible. If you require technical support, please reference the FAQs and other supporting documentation found at https://raportal.vpn.va.gov or contact the Enterprise Service Desk (855) 673-4357.
Software, supporting documentation, FAQs and general information are hosted at the VA’s Remote Access Information and Media Portal. Please ensure you have Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.1 enabled on your web browser before attempting to access this site. To enable TLS within Internet Explorer: Select ‘Tools’, then ‘Internet Options’, then the ‘Advanced’ tab. Enable the checkbox for ‘Use TLS 1.1’ (found towards the end of the list).
How do users or facilities request equipment if they require VPN access?

- Click “Make a Request”
- Click “Computer Services,” under categories
